About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Carbon Project Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, project management, and sustainability. The Carbon Project Developer will play a key role in identifying, developing, and implementing projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable practices.


SunCulture is a proprietary climate-tech platform that switches African farmers from carbon emitting diesel and petrol fuel pumps and climate – vulnerable rainfed irrigation to solar powered irrigation thereby reducing emissions of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.  This task is mainly a support role in the country as carbon contact lead who can coordinate, manage regular carbon activities in Uganda guided by carbon leadership teams based in Kenya. The role will work consultatively with the teams from Kenya to align on activities and establish close coordination of outputs and deliverables towards delivering an integral carbon program.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate carbon development process in Uganda.

  • Lead the logistics activities on the field activities on matters relating to data acquisition and grievance redress from sales.

  • Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and compliance standards.

  • Manage and coordinate establishment of in-country workshops.

  • Coordinate with SunCulture Kenya in establishing the verification and validation processes for carbon.

  • Develop project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements in collaboration with the Head of Carbon.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Support carbon accounting through implementation of new methodologies ad 

  • Support the outreach to local communities in development of carbon consultative framework – Local Stakeholder Consultation (LSC).

  • Manage carbon grievance redress mechanism in country

  • Lead in country carbon operations in Uganda coordinated with carbon operations lead.

  • Develop monitoring systems to track project progress and outcomes.

  • Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting achievements and challenges.

  • Participate in carbon committee virtual meetings.


Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of proven experience in project management, particularly in the field of carbon reduction and sustainability.

  • Familiarity with carbon project development lifecycle

  • Strong understanding of carbon accounting methodologies and environmental regulations.

  • Ability to adapt and work in a fast moving environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and financial resources effectively.
