About the Role

SunCulture specializes in solar power irrigation systems and has various products that support customers' needs. The Head of Data will lead our data strategies in developing and commercializing life changing technology that solves the biggest daily challenges for the world's 570 million smallholder farming households.


As the Head of Data, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our company's success by harnessing the power of data. You will build and lead a talented team of professionals across business intelligence, data engineering, and data science functions, driving actionable insights and enabling informed decision-making at all levels of the organization. Your strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership will be instrumental in driving innovation, optimizing processes, and maximizing the value of our data assets.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business objectives, driving innovation and competitive advantage.

  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of data professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

  • Business Intelligence: Oversee the development and maintenance of robust BI systems and processes, delivering timely and actionable insights to key stakeholders across the organization.

  • Data Engineering: Drive the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable data infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and security.

  • Data Science: Lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics and machine learning models, leveraging data to uncover patterns, trends, and opportunities for optimization and growth.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, sales, and operations, to identify data-driven opportunities and drive strategic initiatives.

  • Data Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain processes and procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of SunCulture's data.

  • Data Governance and Compliance: Establish and enforce data governance standards and best practices, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.



Does this sound like you?

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing data-related functions, preferably in a fast-paced technology startup environment.

  • Strong technical proficiency in data engineering, business intelligence, and data science, with hands-on experience in tools and technologies in the Azure and AWS data engineering stacks.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing data strategies, driving innovation, and delivering measurable business impact.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, build strong relationships, and influence key stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically, analyze complex issues, and drive actionable insights from data.

  • Experience working in agile environments, with the ability to adapt quickly to change and lead teams through ambiguity.

  • Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of industry trends, challenges, and opportunities related to data and analytics.
